With the federal mandate to phase out analog television broadcasts approaching in early 2009, many consumers remain uncertain of what the change means for them. However, Verizon FiOS TV customers are ahead of the game. Verizon FiOS TV is already all-digital, so for most customers there will be no change. At the same time, Verizon is making other changes, and it is taking steps to ensure that customers are not confused by the phaseout of analog broadcasts.

In the last ten years or so, you have heard a lot about "Digital Satellite Systems" and "Digital Cable Systems," You were probably thinking you have been basking in DTV glory for the last decade but hold on spunky; they are not Digital TV (DTV). This is the point where I completely confuse you but believe me at the end of the article you will come out smelling like the "Fios Guy". You will be the DTV guru on the block. All that talk about you at your favorite watering hole, the complements at the water cooler, all the chicks who will dig you......Aha…. keep dreaming pal. Look at me I hang around Lesbians all day but look at the "kool" techno stuff I pick up!

The Senate passed a bill in 2005 that is destined to end analog or what most of us know as over-the-air television. The cut-off date for analog broadcast is slated for February 17, 2009. This date has actually been postponed multiple times due to several reasons which boil down to several organizations not being ready for the switch.
When the bill is finally implemented, TVs, Cable Boxes and other devices that still use the old analog technology NTSC, PAL, SECAM will be unable to receive over the air broadcasts.
Millions of homes in North America currently rely on this soon to be outdated technology as their main source of video news. So what are the low income folks supposed to do? Forfeit their taxes in order to reel in that new HDTV salmon worth $3,000? Careful, Uncle Sam’s IRS arm has been known to cause unforgettable misery kid! In comes the Zulu prince on his black horse... His majesty Prince.....Digital Converter!
