Verizon FiOS TV Delivers 100 High-Definition Channels to New Yorkers - on the Network Built for HD

America's biggest city now has the biggest high-definition (HD) TV lineup as Verizon today begins selling FiOS TV service to customers in New York City. As FiOS TV is launched here, the service will offer 100 HD channels, giving customers more HD than Time Warner or Cablevision.
The new channel lineup will also be offered to existing FiOS TV markets in the New York metropolitan area, including parts of Long Island, the suburbs just north of the city, and northern New Jersey.

Toshiba is planning an aggressive push for the HD DVD format at next month's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, a senior executive said last week.
A group of companies supporting the HD DVD format will hold a news conference on January 7 on the eve of the massive consumer electronics exhibition to announce their plans for 2007, Yoshihide Fujii, president and chief executive officer of Toshiba's digital media network company, said Thursday.
Toshiba, which is the biggest backer of the format, will join the news conference and plans an announcement, but Fujii wouldn't disclose what it will be.

You can get HDTV on Fios. Matter of fact, Fios was built specifically for tomorrows technology. Fios runs on Fiber Optics, we have barely scratched what Fiber Optics is capable of Doing. If all TV stations were brodcasting all programs in HD(High Definition), All Fios programming would be in HD. The Fios Network is built to specifically carry Digital Signals. You would only need to obtan an HD ready television and a FiOS TV HD Set Top Box.

HDTV stands for High Definition Television. In plain English, It is a new TV screen with a higher resolution than the outgoing CRT (Cathode ray tube). Conventional CRT sets display around 480 visible lines of pixels. On the other hand the new HDTV is promising a better picture than what you are used to.
